Goals are what drive the fans crazy, and that is definitely the case when it comes to Barcelona. Hailing from a proud tradition that follows a very offensive brand of football, the fans of the Catalan club demand style in the team’s victories. Fortunately for them, that is exactly what Hansi Flick’s Barcelona continues to deliver.
This season, Barça’s attacking prowess is something that is truly special. Already on course to take on some of the club’s greatest records and even their most iconic trio, Hansi Flick’s arrival has guaranteed that this Barcelona team never falls flat when it comes to goals.
Moreover, a certain player who has particularly enjoyed this new brand of football on the pitch is Raphinha himself. The Barcelona captain has already scored 24 goals this season, and that is a tally that already overshadows the combined total of his two previous seasons at the club in which he scored 20 goals in totality as he continues to enjoy a stellar season.
Now, as highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, the player is now within touching distance of the goals scored by another Brazilian icon for the club. Ronaldo Nazario, one of the greatest players to ever grace the sport, has only scored three more goals for Barcelona than Raphinha’s total for the club so far.
Having scored 47 goals for the Catalan club back in the 1996-1997 season, his tally is the fifth highest for any Brazilian player in Barça’s history. However, Raphinha has already scored 44 goals across his three seasons with the club so far, and is just three goals away from matching Ronaldo’s record.
The targets after that, however, will likely require Raphinha to devote a lot more seasons to the club if he dreams of even getting close to them. Ronaldinho would be the closest target after Ronaldo’s tally, and even he has scored 94 goals for the club. As for the top spot, that still belongs to Brazilian legend Rivaldo, who has 130 goals for Barcelona.
