Manchester United failed to pick all three points against 20th-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils took the lead in the 27th minute through Joshua Zirkzee, who seemingly vanished after scoring only his second goal of the season.

Ruben Amorim’s men got comfortable and conceded to Wolves just before the break. In the second half, United never looked like scoring, finishing the game with just two out-and-out attackers.

United should explore the possibility of signing another forward in the winter transfer window. Interestingly, the promising form of their loanee, Rasmus Hojlund, could help Amorim’s pursuit.

Rasmus Hojlund shining at Napoli

Rasmus Hojlund, who joined United from Atalanta in 2023, has rediscovered his form in Italy.

The 22-year-old centre-forward has seven goals and three assists to his name in 19 appearances across all competitions under Antonio Conte, who is thought to be delighted with the Dane.

Napoli signed Hojlund on loan with an obligation to buy in the summer. The obligation is contingent on the Naples outfit qualifying for Champions League football. However, the Serie A giants have already made up their mind on the in-form Denmark international.

Napoli prepared to sign Hojlund in 2026

According to Fabrizio Romano, Napoli are ready to exercise their option to keep hold of Hojlund on a permanent basis.

The Italian journalist said (via his YouTube channel): “Very good news for Man Utd because Napoli confirm that they believe the obligation for Rasmus Hojlund will be just a formality.

“It will happen in 2026. There were some stories about Napoli being limited in the market, not able to invest, but that’s not the case for Hojlund.

“United will have €50m from Hojlund’s deal (€44m obligation + €6m loan fee), and that is very important for news. It’s also the reason why they want to invest in 2026 because they will have fresh money from Hojlund’s deal.”

The “fresh money” may help United strengthen their side in January.

Early today, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United are open to making a winter move for RB Leipzig’s sensational winger, Yan Diomande, who is valued in the region of €60m.
