Despite seemingly losing his starting spot to Nathaniel Brown, David Raum welcomes the competition for Germany's left-back slot.
“He had an outstanding season, even though Eintracht Frankfurt struggled," Raum told Sky Germany, praising his compatriot Brown.
“He fought his way into our team. I've had some physical problems lately, but I'm getting fitter all the time,” the 28-year-old added.
Regardless, the Leipzig clubman comes across as the ultimate team player, vowing to help Germany at the World Cup in whatever way:
"We're very well-staffed in that position. If I'm not playing the team can still rely on me. The coach therefore has a wealth of options.”
In a recent media round at the World Cup, Raum even hinted that Brown may get the nod for Germany's tournament opener with Curaçao.
