Sunderland’s Red & White Army has called on the club to postpone releasing unrenewed season tickets as fans report unresolved renewal problems.
According to Sunderland Echo, the group has been in talks with the hierarchy since before last month’s Tyne-Wear derby against Newcastle United, when tickets were rescinded then put back on sale after what the club said was a large-scale breach of ticketing rules. The episode, plus ongoing renewal issues, has intensified scrutiny of the system since promotion to the Premier League.
RAWA said the club attempted to clarify the derby situation in a 31st March communication, and that discussions remain ongoing. The group said it is pressing for clearer messaging to the wider fanbase and for a resolution.
It has compiled a list of concerns, including seat moves, admin fees and switching between pricing structures, and wants a ticketing-specific meeting as a matter of urgency. Some long-serving supporters have also faced difficulties moving between corporate packages and general admission.
While acknowledging progress in many areas, RAWA argues customer service and ticketing outcomes are still falling short. With a proposed deadline of five pm on 20th April, it says supporters should not risk losing their season ticket or the chance to move because of issues outside their control. Fans experiencing problems have been asked to contact info@redandwhitearmy.co.uk.
