According to Estadio Deportivo, Real Betis have placed Fábio Silva among their main striker options for next season, with the Borussia Dortmund forward said to be seriously considering a summer exit after limited minutes in Germany.

The Portuguese has struggled to secure a regular role, in part due to competition from Serhou Guirassy and a belief that Dortmund's style does not suit his strengths. This season he has featured in 38 matches, scoring three and supplying seven assists.

His camp say he has already fielded calls from several Spanish clubs and he views a return to LaLiga positively after a strong spell at UD Las Palmas. At Betis, Manuel Pellegrini and sporting director Manu Fajardo are admirers and feel he would fit the project.

Betis' qualification for next season's Champions League provides a boost and greater financial room. The club want to add a proven centre-forward as their top market priority.

Even so, any deal will not be straightforward. Dortmund paid €22.5 million for Silva last summer and have not yet taken a definitive view on his future amid recent changes in their sporting department. A loan with an option to buy, or a permanent sale, remain on the table.

Betis continue to assess other attacking options, including Franculino Djú and Kévin Denkey, although Silva is considered to have an advantage thanks to his previous LaLiga and European experience.
