In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Real Madrid are among the clubs hoping to land Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate. It has been stated that Los Blancos would have to rival Bayern Munich in the race to sign the France international next year.
Konate enjoyed a decent run of form at the Merseyside club after he put in a run of impressive displays for them on the defensive end of the field. The French talent has played in 16 matches for Liverpool this season, scoring one goal in various competitions.
The 26-year-old has been a rock at the back for the Reds as he has made 17 tackles, ten blocks, six interceptions and 69 clearances in the Premier League. He has also been excellent when distributing possession from inside his half, based on his pass completion rate of 90.2% in the French top tier (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at the Merseyside club will run out at the end of this campaign, which could open the door for Real Madrid to sign him on a free transfer next summer.

Konate is a good tackler of the ball and can scan the danger well to secure possession back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when needed and is proficient at playing his way out from the back.
Standing at 1.94, the France international is a strong presence in the air as well. However, only time will tell whether he can make a smooth transition to life in La Liga if Los Blancos manage to bring him on board next year.
We can expect Konate to add more quality and depth to Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso’s defence. He is more than capable of securing a regular starting place at the Madrid club in the coming years. The French talent could even help Real Madrid compete for some major trophies over the next few seasons.
At 26, Konate has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a decent choice for Los Blancos to pursue next summer.
