In a recent report, E-Noticies revealed that Real Madrid are planning to move in for Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate. It has been stated that Los Blancos are prepared to launch a €40m move to land the France international in the winter transfer window.
Konate had a solid campaign at the Merseyside club recently as he helped them win the Premier League title. The French talent played in 42 matches for Liverpool last season, scoring two goals and earning two assists across various competitions.
The 26-year-old was a solid presence when defending inside his half after he made 40 tackles, 29 blocks, 17 interceptions and 133 clearances in the Premier League. He was even excellent when distributing possession from the back after completing 90.2% of his attempted passes in the English top tier (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at Anfield will run out at the end of this campaign. Hence, Los Blancos could potentially land him on a cut-price deal this January.

Konate is a solid tackler of the ball and can scan the danger well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when needed and excels at playing his way out from the back.
Standing at 1.94m, the France international can use his robust frame to win his fair share of aerial duels. However, there are some question marks over whether he can make a smooth transition to life in La Liga if Los Blancos manage to acquire his services next year.
Konate would add more bite and steel to Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso’s defence. He is more than capable of earning a regular first-team spot at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. Furthermore, the French talent could help the Madrid giants compete for some major honours over the next few years.
At 26, Konate has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a decent fit for Los Blancos to pursue next year. He would be a great fit for Alonso’s plans in the short term. Thus, it makes sense for Real Madrid to move in for him this January.
