Gonzalo Garcia’s rise at Real Madrid was not one many saw coming, but the academy ace has exceeded all expectations and established himself as Real Madrid’s most important attacker in the FIFA Club World Cup.

The youngster racked up two goals and an assist in the group stage of the event and then went on to score the winner against Juventus to help Real Madrid progress to the quarter-final of the event midweek.

He is, currently, presumably even ahead of Kylian Mbappe on Xabi Alonso’s pecking order given that the Frenchman just recovered from gastroenteritis.

His rise, however, may signal the end of the road for another Real Madrid star as relayed by Mundo Deportivo.

Endrick sees little hope

As relayed by the Spanish outlet, Garcia’s rise has caused collateral damage to his teammate Endrick who joined Real Madrid last summer hoping to become the team’s next big-name striker.

The Brazilian phenom saw little action last season under Carlo Ancelotti and was expected to see more playing time under Alonso.

An unfortunate injury, however, ruled him out of the initial stage of the Club World Cup and a debut in the competition is now unlikely.

Looking in the medium term too, however, Garcia’s performances place him above Endrick on the manager’s pecking order. Placed third in the hierarchy, he may well not see minutes this season at the club.

Needless to say, the cascade of events leaves Endrick questioning his future at the club and even potentially considering a departure.

The 18-year-old striker knows that the club signed him for the long haul, but not seeing minutes for two successive years would be devastating.

When clubs arrived enquiring about the Brazilian’s availability, Real Madrid blatantly rejected them back in January. Now, however, it remains to be seen how they proceed should the player ask for an exit, even potentially on loan.
