La Liga clubs have united against the competition and the league president for taking domestic league games overseas – a move that brings with it massive repercussions in the future in terms of disturbing the level of playing field.
Real Madrid, needless to say, have been at the centre of the revolt and have openly hit out at La Liga for taking Barcelona’s game against Villarreal overseas, thereby playing a game that should have taken place at the hostile La Ceramica to a neutral venue in Miami.
As part of Matchday 9, all teams are holding up play for the first 15-20 seconds of games to show solidarity in the stance against La Liga and Tebas, and it remains to be seen what comes of the protests.
Speaking to the media recently, the Real Madrid defender opened up on the burning issue of La Liga taking Barcelona’s game against Villarreal to Miami in the United States of America.

“It seems to me a very clear adulteration of the competition,” Carvajal said, backing the protests of La Liga clubs and pointing the finger at Javier Tebas.
“It doesn’t make all teams compete under the same conditions,” he added.
Elaborating on how having fair and equitable football was important for not only players but clubs and the league as a whole, the Real Madrid captain voiced out how taking games overseas disturbed the level playing field.
“I think it is essential that we are fair to the players themselves, clubs and the League itself, that we will have to advocate for something fair and I think this does not,” he added.
