Real Madrid defender Rudiger hails ‘silent leader’ at Arsenal | OneFootball

Antonio Rudiger has praised William Saliba and Gabriel Maghalaes and says the Arsenal centre-backs are at the ‘top, top level’.

Rudiger was speaking to the Inside Scoop YouTube channel and was asked which centre-backs he believes are the best in world football right now.

The Real Madrid defender was full of praise for Arsenal pair Saliba and Gabriel, insisting the defensive duo have been the ‘pillars’ on which Mikel Arteta’s transformation of the Gunners has been built.

Rudiger believes the defenders complement each other in the Arsenal backline and hailed Saliba as a ‘silent leader’ at the Emirates.

On the show, the Germany international said: “Saliba (is a centre-back at the top level). I like Gabriel from Arsenal as well. If you see Arsenal, the two centre-backs that are playing together, sine two years now they’re doing an amazing job.

“The transformation from Arsenal that was a bit before to now, those two are the pillar of it.

“You have with Gabriel the more aggressive leader and, for example, Saliba – this brother plays clean. You have to give it to him, he looks like a silent leader.”
