The first El Clasico of the season brought optimism at Real Madrid, who secured a convincing win over a Barcelona side that looked lost for ideas.
Despite the flashes of brilliance from a visibly fatigued Lamine Yamal, the Catalans failed to find any real rhythm or response to Madrid’s intensity.
For Los Blancos, the victory at the Santiago Bernabeu felt like a release. It marked the end of an 18-month drought against their eternal rivals – a run that included painful defeats, even in two finals.
The full-time whistle was met with wild hostilities on the pitch, as players clashed. Understandably, reactions quickly flooded social media.
While many focused on the final scoreline, others were drawn to the most talked-about storylines centred on the controversy surrounding Lamine Yamal’s comments before the match.
His remarks during a Kings League appearance resurfaced after the final whistle, reigniting the debate.

As tempers boiled on the pitch, Madrid players Dani Carvajal and Thibaut Courtois confronted Yamal directly, echoing their disapproval of his words.
The tension spilled over into the post-match moments, when Real Madrid academy talent Raul Asencio appeared to take a subtle jab at the Barcelona youngster.
The defender, who remained on the bench throughout the match, posted a cryptic Instagram story shortly after full-time.
Alongside a photo of himself, Asencio added four speaking-head emojis — a gesture widely interpreted as a reference to Yamal’s pre-match comments.
The post quickly gained attention, adding another layer to an already heated narrative surrounding the young winger.
As for Yamal and Barcelona, it is time for them to focus, regroup and reflect on what can be done now to close the gap between them and Real Madrid, which is currently five points at the top of the table.
