Real Madrid eye 22-year-old Portuguese defender who could cost €20-25 million | OneFootball

Real Madrid’s idea to sign a new centre-back in the summer has been known for a long time now, especially with David Alaba expected to leave the club, Antonio Rudiger’s future uncertain, and Eder Militao suffering from injuries.

Several top names have been linked with the Spanish capital club, including Dayot Upamecano, Marc Guehi, and Ibrahima Konate, all of whom could potentially be available for free next ssummer.

Concurrently, however, Los Blancos are also eyeing some of the bright and promising talents in the circuit and Defensa Central brings to light that Ousmane Diomande is growing as an option.

Ousmane Diomande – an optimal target

Sporting CP’s 22-year-old talent Ousmane Diomande has grown as one of the brightest young talents in his position in recent times and is already a mainstay for his team in the Liga Portugal.

His contract runs out in 2027, and he will be entering the final year of his deal next summer making him a promising target for Real Madrid.

Given his firm idea of not renewing his deal, Sporting will be under pressure to sell him next summer to avoid losing him as a free agent.

His market value stands at €50 million but the Portuguese side will have to sell him for between €20-25 million.

Real Madrid, hence, are alert to his situation but have not made any final decision yet as to whether they will target the Sporting CP star. After all, they have had mixed experiences splashing cash on promising talents in the past.

Portuguese clubs, historically, have proven to be tough negotiators, and Real Madrid should expect the same if they decide to sign Diomande next summer.

Their final decision, however, will depend not only on the situation of the existing defenders but also on the alternative free-agent options they have on their wishlist.
