Real Madrid’s final training session before the clash with Real Sociedad brought exactly the news the club wanted to hear.

After days of concern surrounding Kylian Mbappe’s knee, the French forward stepped back onto the pitch with the rest of the squad, reports AS.

For most of the week, Mbappe had been the biggest question mark in the dressing room.

Recurring discomfort in his left knee had kept him away from group sessions, and there were real fears he could miss the weekend’s match.

His return to the training ground, therefore, was seen as a major boost both physically and mentally for the team.

Positive news for Real Madrid

The striker joined his teammates during the opening phase of Friday’s session, taking part in the warm-up and early ball work.

There were no visible signs of discomfort, and his movements looked sharp and natural. Inside the club, the feeling is that he has shaken off the issue and is ready to be involved again.

If nothing unexpected happens before kick-off, Mbappe is expected to be included in the matchday squad against Real Sociedad.

There is even growing confidence that he could return straight to the starting line-up, underlining just how important he is to the team’s attacking plans.

Asencio returns as well

While Mbappe’s return grabbed the headlines, he was not the only positive update.

Defender Raul Asencio also rejoined the squad after recovering from a bout of flu. He is now expected to start against Sociedad, giving the defence an added sense of stability.

Meanwhile, there were still a few absentees, though, as Eder Militao and Jude Bellingham continued their recovery work indoors, while Rodrygo remained unavailable.

Even so, the number of missing players is now limited, and the overall mood in the camp has improved significantly.
