Real Madrid have begun talks with Aurelien Tchouameni over a new contract, Sport reports, with his current deal running to 2028 and an extension to 2031 under discussion. Liverpool and Manchester United had shown interest when a departure looked possible.
Last summer the midfielder was linked with an exit after a difficult spell. Used at centre-back under Carlo Ancelotti amid an injury crisis, and in a misfiring midfield, he drew heavy criticism and was whistled at the Bernabeu in January 2025, prompting suggestions Madrid would listen to offers.
This season has brought a turnaround. Tchouameni has impressed under Xabi Alonso and Alvaro Arbeloa, emerging as one of Madrid’s most dependable performers.
He now appears to have secured a place in midfield for the foreseeable. Even if Madrid target another midfielder to run the game this summer, that addition would complement him rather than replace him.
Eduardo Camavinga’s position is less clear. The 23-year-old has struggled with injuries across the last two seasons and has not cemented a regular starting role, and with Tchouameni and Fede Valverde ahead of him and another midfielder expected to arrive, it is expected that Madrid will consider offers, despite his contract running to 2029.
