Vinicius Junior has rediscovered his spark, scoring six in his last five matches for Real Madrid. His form has surged at a pivotal moment, with 18 months left on his contract.
Diario AS reports the club hierarchy have now reached a consensus on securing a new deal for the 25-year-old, after earlier hesitation within the boardroom.
Talks held in 2025 failed to produce an agreement and were postponed for later in the season. That pause opened the door to outside interest, including from Manchester City.
Vinicius’ priority is to remain at Real Madrid, and the club share that aim. Madrid are in regular contact with his representatives, and there is a feeling an agreement will be finalised when the timing suits, with little now expected to obstruct an extension beyond 2027.
Discussions are likely to resume closer to the summer while he focuses on La Liga and the Champions League. With a World Cup in June and July, talks could slip towards the start of next season, yet the expectation is that he will eventually sign, even if his deal drops under 12 months.
