Real Madrid have been hit with yet another worrying development involving David Alaba, as uncertainty continues to grow around the defender’s physical condition. 

Journalist Melchor Ruiz revealed that the Austrian centre-back did not step out onto the grass during today’s training session at Valdebebas, choosing instead to remain indoors to work inside the facilities. 

This absence has raised immediate doubts about whether he will be available for the upcoming fixture against Elche.

What has happened to Alaba now?

The issue, described as a muscle overload, has placed a cloud over his participation. 

It arrives at a delicate moment for the league leaders, who were enjoying the return of several players following the conclusion of the international break. 

The day brought several reunions at the training ground as those who had stayed with Xabi Alonso’s staff through the break were joined by teammates who had been away on national team duty.

However, Real Madrid’s long list of unavailable players remains a concern. With Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao already ruled out, and Franco Mastantuono missing in attack, Alaba’s potential absence only deepens the defensive problems.

The Austrian returned from duty with Austria carrying noticeable muscle discomfort, forcing him to limit his workload and train exclusively in the gym instead of joining the group.

Contract uncertainty

This development only further amplifies the alarm surrounding his fitness, as throughout the current season, Alaba’s availability has been a persistent issue. 

He has been able to feature in just four matches across both La Liga and the Champions League, accumulating a total of only 145 minutes on the pitch. 

Given how crucial he was expected to be this campaign, the situation is becoming increasingly unsettling for the club.

Inside Real Madrid, the constant setbacks are reportedly prompting serious internal discussions about his long-term future. 

With his contract inching closer to a decisive stage, the club should keenly weigh the value of extending the deal against the risk of continued physical problems.
