Real Madrid secured their place in the finals of the Spanish Super Cup final last night when they defeated RCD Mallorca 3-0 in the second semi-final.

With the victory, the Merengues now set up a meeting with their bitter rivals FC Barcelona, who qualified for the final after beating Athletic Club in the first semi-final.

However, the victory against Mallorca appeared to have come with a cost for Real Madrid as two key players, Jude Bellingham and Federico Valverde picked up adductor strains while Aurelien Tchouameni was also injured.

“Tchouameni was fine when I saw him on the bench. The doctor preferred to remove him because it was a blow to the head. Bellingham and Valverde have ended up with overloads because it was so hot that we did not expect,” said Carlo Ancelotti.

Bellingham, Valverde could be ready

Now, providing an update on the situation, The Athletic’s Guillermo Rai reports that Ancelotti & co. believe that both Bellingham and Valverde will recover in time for Sunday’s final against Barcelona.

Indeed, the Real Madrid boss is hopeful of having both his key midfielders available for the second El Clasico of the ongoing season, after having been defeated the first time out by the Blaugrana.

Valverde is an ever-present figure in the starting XI for Real Madrid, so much so that Ancelotti did not even rest him in the Copa del Rey clash against Deportiva Minera even though almost the entire first-choice lineup was given a breather.

Meanwhile, Bellingham has been on a red-hot streak in the past two months, making his slow start to the season a thing of the past.

In fact, the England international was on target for Real Madrid last night against Mallorca, scoring the opening goal a little after the hour mark.

Given how important the two players are Ancelotti and Los Blancos will be eager to have them fit and ready in time to lock horns with Hansi Flick’s side.
