La Liga giants Real Madrid have repositioned themselves at the very front of the queue for the signing of River Plate sensation Frace Mastantuono.
That’s according to a whole host of sources across the Spanish media and beyond, who have confirmed major developments in the ongoing transfer saga on Wednesday.
The name of attacker Mastantuono has of course reemerged as an altogether prominent one at Real Madrid over the last 24 hours.
This comes after word was forthcoming that, amid fears of European champions Paris Saint-Germain closing on a deal for the 17-year-old, Real Madrid had reignited their long-standing interest in his signature.
And if the ensuing updates on Wednesday are anything to go by, then Los Blancos now appear to be favourites to land Mastantuono once more.
As per the reliable Mario Cortegana and Guillermo Rai of The Athletic:
‘Real Madrid have held talks with the representatives of River Plate attacking midfielder Franco Mastantuono.’ Not only that, but it is added that ‘sources have indicated that his preference if he leaves River is to join Madrid’.
Representatives from the Santiago Bernabéu are therefore understood to have travelled to Argentina this week, with hopes of tying up an imminent deal for a player widely regarded as one of the standout young talents in world football.
