Real Madrid’s win over Getafe was a much-needed one for Los Blancos, especially given how the path to the three points was unclear but the team persevered to work out a solution regardless.

It was, in particular, an important game for Eduardo Camavinga who made his first start for Real Madrid since coming back from injury. In fact, it was his first-ever start under Xabi Alonso.

Recent months have not been easy for the Frenchman, especially given how he missed not only the tail end of last season but the FIFA Club World Cup and the opening phase of the ongoing campaign through injury.

His prolonged absence, however, does not make Alonso value him any less as relayed by AS (h/t Madrid Xtra)

His decision to use Camavinga sparingly in recent weeks can be interpreted as him exercising caution and protecting a player he considers important from a relapse. Now that the Frenchman is fully fit, one can expect him to feature more often as a starter.

It remains to be seen what position the manager considers apt for Camavinga, especially given how the player has been used as a versatile option in recent years without a clear niche.

Considering that the attacking midfield already has strong competition, the player is likely to feature more as an interior or a defensive midfielder.

The most likely utility he will find may well be as a rotational option as the pivot alongside Aurelien Tchouameni, especially given how the squad is scarce for resources in the department.
