Real Madrid are keen to bring in a midfield star this summer, as they look to rebuild following two unsuccessful seasons. One of the names that has repeatedly come up is Enzo Fernandez, who has made little secret of the fact that he is open to leaving the club this summer.
President Florentino Perez announced last Thursday that he would be making a €150m bid for a Galactico signing today, but with most sources suggesting that it would be for one of Vitinha, Joao Neves or Michael Olise. Yet it looks unlikely that any of that trio will be willing to allow their stars to move. Fernandez’s future appears to be less certain at Chelsea, where Xabi Alonso has just arrived at Stamford Bridge, and they will be without Champions League football.

According to El Chiringuito, negotiations for Enzo Fernandez are ‘quite advanced’. They did not add whether he was the player that Perez was referring to. This follows on from reports last week that Fernandez had reached an agreement on personal terms, which came from Onda Cero, and were quoted by Marca. Meanwhile in England, The Athletic have said that Chelsea have set a price tag of €120m to allow him to leave, although they hope to persuade him to stay.

The 25-year-old has been questioned over his atittude during his time at Chelsea, which given the similar questions over Real Madrid’s dressing room this season, could be a concern. In terms of his technical ability and vision of the game though, there is no doubt that he would be a significant upgrade, and on the face of it, a good partner for Aurelien Tchouameni.
