La Liga giants Real Madrid are considered to be in a strong position to land Inter Milan star Alessandro Bastoni before the summer is out.

This comes amid the understanding that the Italian has made his way to the top of Los Blancos’ transfer wishlist.

The name of defender Bastoni has of course proven to be a prominent one in the media headlines across Spain to this point in the summer.

For some time, it appeared as though Hansi Flick’s Barcelona were all set to land the 27-year-old in a big-money transfer. In the end, however, the two clubs failed to reach a definitive agreement.

And as alluded to above, such shortcomings on the part of the Blaugrana brass appear to have opened the door to none other than their arch rivals.

As per a report from Diario AS, amid an ongoing search for fresh blood at centre-back:

‘Inter Milan fully accept Bastoni’s departure and understand that Real Madrid wants to sign him, something they are already aware of.’

José Mourinho is said to have given his full backing to a swoop for Bastoni. Not only that, but the stopper himself ‘has put everything on hold to wear the white shirt’.
