Real Madrid exited the Champions League on Wednesday, beaten 6-4 on aggregate by Bayern Munich in their quarter-final. Late controversy centred on Eduardo Camavinga’s dismissal, which preceded the two goals that took Bayern into the last four.
As reported by Football Espana, referee Slavko Vincic showed Camavinga a second yellow after a challenge on Harry Kane, the caution issued for delaying the restart after he held the ball for three seconds. Real Madrid head coach Alvaro Arbeloa was incredulous at the decision.
In the aftermath, captain Dani Carvajal was seen furiously blaming the official on the pitch.
Speaking in the mixed zone, Jude Bellingham called the booking a joke and said two fouls had produced two yellows, which he argued should not have been a caution.
Antonio Rudiger, also asked about the incident, said it was better he did not speak and questioned whether anyone had seen something similar.
Arda Guler, outstanding at the Allianz Arena, declined to speak publicly after full time but remonstrated with Vincic near the tunnel. He was shown a red card there, bringing a suspension for the start of next season’s Champions League.
