Real Madrid have gone all out to reinforce Xabi Alonso’s squad this summer and provide the new manager with a solid foundation to develop his project on.
In Dean Huijsen, Alvaro Carreras, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Franco Mastantuono, they have brought in four players for the long haul and did not hesitate in breaking the bank for them.
Now, as relayed by Fichajes, Los Blancos have a new target in mind, and it is unsurprisingly for the defensive midfield position which the manager continues to see as the one weak link in the team.
As relayed in the recent report, Los Blancos are seriously considering a move for Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton and even have him as their next primary target.
In fact, they are reportedly preparing an offer of €115 million to land him in the summer of 2026.

The young English midfielder is seen as the perfect tempo-controlling midfielder who can play in a deep position by Alonso, and the manager considers him the one missing piece in his project.
In an ideal world, the new coach would have liked for Real Madrid to sign the star this summer, as would be possible if the club managed a big sale.
Rodrygo’s departure was expected to be that move, but the player is now likely to stay making the operation this summer unlikely.
As such, Real Madrid will go all out for him in 2026 and will thus reactivate the option next summer. There is, however, serious competition for his signing.
Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool are all closely monitoring the 21-year-old but Crystal Palace’s asking price continues to serve as the deterrent. If Real Madrid are willing to break the bank next summer, however, the story could well be different.
