In recent weeks, it seemed pretty much certain that Dayot Upamecano, a centre-back target for Real Madrid, was all set to sign a new contract with Bayern Munich.
The French international’s current deal at the Allianz Arena expires at the end of the season, and recent reports suggested that an agreement was close to being finalised for the defender to continue in Bavaria.
It had led to Real Madrid moving on from their pursuit of the defender, with the Merengues looking at other options for the summer.
However, as per the latest reports from Germany, as relayed by Mundo Deportivo, Upamecano has still not given a response to the contract offer tabled, and that patience within Bayern Munich is wearing thin due to his silence.
“There has been speculation that Upamecano has accepted, but we never said that. We said that we were waiting for his response. It is the only one that matters. And that is where we are. There is no news,” said director Max Eberl, a few days ago.

As per the report, the offer made by the Bundesliga champions does not fully satisfy the Upamecano’s representatives, leading to the silence.
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich are not willing to improve their proposal.
This would open up a new scenario for Real Madrid and for other interested clubs such as PSG, who are looking to sign a defender for next season.
If there is no resolution, Upamecano would be available on a free transfer for the Merengues to sign. Only time will tell how things evolve with the Frenchman and his contract situation at the Allianz Arena.
