Real Madrid reach agreement with RB Leipzig to sign Yan Diomande | OneFootball

Real Madrid are set to finalise their fifth signing of the summer transfer window, with Yan Diomande poised to arrive from RB Leipzig. A deal for the 19-year-old was sought earlier this week, and after only a few days of negotiations, an agreement appears to have been reached between the two clubs.

As reported by Ben Jacobs, Real Madrid and RB Leipzig have reached an agreement in principle over a deal for Diomande, who is set to return to Spanish football one year after leaving Leganes. Los Blancos previously had a €100m offer turned down, although their latest proposal appears to have come closer to the €120m that the Bundesliga club were seeking.

Diomande had been prioritising a move to Paris Saint-Germain earlier in the summer, but that was before Real Madrid entered the bidding. He quickly agreed personal terms with the Bernabeu club, who have moved quickly to reach an agreement with RB Leipzig before the back-to-back European champions could make their own approach.

Diomande will jet into the Spanish capital in the coming days in order to finalise his contract, and thus, begin his new chapter. He will be the final piece of Real Madrid’s star-studded attack alongside Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham, with the plan being for him to occupy the right wing position.

In recent years, Real Madrid have not been afraid to spent big on young talents that they see as good enough to be first team players for many years to come. They did it with Bellingham, Endrick Felipe and Franco Mastantuono, and now, they are doing the same with Diomande, who will become one of their most expensive signings of all time.

There is definitely a risk with spending in excess of €100m on a player with one full season at the top of European football, although Real Madrid clearly see Diomande as being a risk worth taking.
