Real Madrid have no plans to sell Kylian Mbappe in the summer transfer window despite the problems at Estadio Bernabeu, according to Fabrizio Romano, as an online petition to get him out of Los Blancos reaches a record high.
Mbappe has been the subject of intense criticism in recent days, as the crisis at Madrid goes from bad to worse.
Real Madrid are staring at yet another season without a major trophy, and there have been consistent reports of players’ unrest.
Dani Ceballos has fallen out with Madrid manager Alvaro Arbeloa, while Antonio Rudiger has been involved in a training ground altercation with Alvaro Carreras.
Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde almost came to blows in training this week.
As Madrid prepare for El Clasico against Barcelona at Spotify Camp Nou on Sunday, Mbappe has come under scrutiny.
Mbappe, who was involved in an altercation with a member of the Madrid coaching staff ahead of the match against Real Betis on April 24, was criticised for going on a trip to Italy with his partner while injured.
The France international striker is recovering from a hamstring injury that he suffered against Betis.
Many Madrid fans are not happy that Mbappe was enjoying himself while the team were struggling.
An online petition calling for ‘Mbappe out’ has been gathering pace, with almost 32 million signatures already.
It originally aimed to collect 200,000 signatures, but now it has shattered the Guinness World Record.
At the time of writing, the online petition has 31,729,855 signatures, although it must be noted that it is unlikely that everyone who has signed it is a Madrid fan.
Despite such furore over Mbappe, Madrid are calm and are not planning to sell him, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.
Romano said on his YouTube channel this week: “Guys, I would not exaggerate with this.
“For sure, it’s not the best moment between Kylian Mbappe and Real Madrid. That’s a reality.
“It’s not the best moment, obviously, to see a player like Kylian Mbappe on holiday while the team is struggling is something that is showing probably the moment, but at the same time, let’s not exaggerate.
“Let’s not say that the relationship between Real Madrid and Mbappe is broken.
“Let’s not say that between Mbappe and Real Madrid is over.
“Let’s not even mention that Real Madrid are considering Mbappe exit in the summer.
“There is nothing about. Nothing at all.
“It’s a complicated moment for Real Madrid, but it’s not only Mbappe.
