Real Madrid have made a big move to secure one of their brightest young talents, Gonzalo Garcia.
According to a report from AS, the club has renewed the teenager’s contract, extending his stay at the Santiago Bernabeu until 2030.
But what really stands out is the massive leap in his release clause, from €50 million to a jaw-dropping €1 billion.
By this, it is clear that Madrid want to make sure no club can lure him away, no matter how big the offer.
It must be noted that this agreement did not come out of the blue. Talks were always smooth, with everyone involved fully committed from the start.
Despite heavy interest from Premier League giants, Gonzalo’s focus never shifted. He only had one thing in mind – his journey in white and following in the footsteps of his idol, Cristiano Ronaldo.

The young striker is also set to change shirt numbers. He will leave behind the number 30 jersey.
While the number 9 shirt is available, since Kylian Mbappé now wears 10, it has not been confirmed if Gonzalo will take it.
That was not a key part of the deal. The main goal was to finalise the renewal and ensure the player feels valued and protected.
This new deal is not just a win for Gonzalo. It also sends a strong message across Real Madrid’s academy in Valdebebas. Coaches and young talents now see clearly that a path to the first team is very real.
His rise proves that if you work hard and perform when given the chance, you can make it. The 21-year-old forward did not just step up, he broke the door down with his performances.
And now, with this long-term contract and enormous buyout clause, Real Madrid are saying loud and clear that Gonzalo is here to stay.
