One of the biggest misfortunes of Real Madrid this season has been Trent Alexander-Arnold’s battles with injuries.
The Englishman joined the club on a free transfer last summer with the hopes that he would fit in seamlessly under Xabi Alonso and eventually become the long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal.
But as we approach the final three months of the season, neither Trent nor Carvajal has had much action, with Real Madrid largely being forced to rely on makeshift right-back options such as Federico Valverde, Raul Asencio and now, youngster David Jimenez.
The series of injuries, coupled with Alonso’s dismissal have led to concerns over Trent’s long-term future at the Bernabeu as well.
However, according to Diario AS (h/t Madrid Xtra), Real Madrid have no such notion and see Trent as a game-changer for the team.

This is despite the fact that the former Liverpool star has struggled with multiple injury concerns and has featured in just over 500 minutes of competitive action for Los Blancos.
The report adds that Real Madrid have worked hard on the Englishman following his injuries and have no desire to give up on him just yet.
Moreover, the Real Madrid analysis team has highlighted that Trent can be extremely useful to the squad going forward.
The Englishman, after all, was regarded as one of the best fullbacks in the world before his move to Bernabeu and is still rated highly due to his offensive capabilities and proficiency from set-pieces.
Although injuries have held back Trent’s progress, Real Madrid are confident the player can overcome these woes and return to being a world class star.
