Real Madrid shut the door on Bayern Munich midfielder despite agent’s approach | OneFootball

According to a recent report from Defensa Central, Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka has been offered to Real Madrid by his representatives, only for the club to reject the opportunity.

Goretzka is approaching the final phase of his time at Bayern Munich. 

With his contract entering its final months, the German midfielder has no intention of renewing his deal and is actively looking for a new challenge away from the Bundesliga. 

His agents have begun sounding out several top European clubs in search of a suitable destination, and Real Madrid were among those contacted.

There is a history

As such, the response from the Bernabeu was concrete. Despite having admired Goretzka in the past, Real Madrid made it clear that the midfielder is no longer part of their sporting plans. 

The club politely informed his representatives that there is no interest in reopening a file that was once considered closed.

This decision is particularly striking given the history between the player and the club.

Notably, Florentino Perez had explored the possibility of signing Goretzka on two separate occasions. 

The first came before the midfielder joined Bayern Munich, when he was emerging as one of Germany’s most promising talents. 

The second approach followed several years later, during the peak of his career in Bavaria, when he was a dominant presence in midfield and a key figure under Hansi Flick.

However, circumstances have changed. At 30 years of age and no longer an undisputed starter at Bayern, Real Madrid view the profile as misaligned with their current sporting direction.

Interestingly, Real Madrid are aware that Goretzka’s agents have also approached Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. 

This opens up the possibility of the German midfielder remaining in Spain, potentially even wearing the shirt of one of Madrid’s biggest rivals. 

Even so, that prospect has not altered the club’s position in the slightest.
