A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid could find himself unable to play his part in the early rounds of the club’s next European campaign.

That’s according to Diario AS, who point towards Dani Carvajal as the player in question.

Right-back Carvajal for his part watched on from the sidelines last night, as Real Madrid locked horns with Arsenal in the Champions League.

This of course comes with the Spanish international sidelined long-term following an ACL tear last year.

En route to a 2-1 defeat and ensuing continental exit for his side, though, Carvajal did manage to get himself involved in things at the interval.

As Bukayo Saka made his way back to the dressing room at the Santiago Bernabéu, the 33-year-old emerged from the stands, to exchange words with the Englishman.

As much culminated in a heated back-and-forth, with the two players having ultimately been separated by staff.

And as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then Carvajal could find himself in hot water for his actions on Wednesday.

As per AS, the defender could be accused of breaking a pair of UEFA regulations:

‘Section 15.a.viii of UEFA’s disciplinary regulations stipulates a one-match ban for “taking part in a match when ineligible to play, if such a sanction is deemed appropriate”.’

In addition:

‘Carvajal could be subject to 15.e: “Suspension for three competitive matches or a specified period for assaulting another player or another person present at the match”.’

In the case of being found guilty of both offences, the Real Madrid star would be hit with a four-match Champions League ban.
