A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid is playing through the pain barrier to help his teammates at present.
That’s according to Marca, who highlight Raúl Asencio as the player in question.
Stopper Asencio has for his part played a prominent role in Real Madrid’s backline over recent weeks, producing a number of outstanding individual performances.
As much is expected to give rise to further consistent starts moving forward.
And yet, as alluded to above, the Spaniard is currently taking to the pitch some way short of full fitness.
As per a report from Marca, Asencio is dealing with a fracture in his tibia, and has been playing through as much ‘for some time’ now.
Both club and player are aware that, for the injury to fully heal, Asencio would be required to take between six and eight weeks off.
For this reason, amid the ongoing personnel problems in Real Madrid’s defence, the 22-year-old has made the call to power through for as long as possible.
