Estevao Willian is continuing his incredible rise to stardom, scoring another goal for Brazil in this international break.
On the London is Blue podcast this week they noted that Carlo Ancelotti, the Brazil coach, was giving him plenty of minutes and chances for the national team without overwhelming him, in a similar way to how he integrated one of the same team’s stars at club level a few years ago.

Vinicius Junior with Estevao Willian for Brazil
“[Estevao] has played in 11 matches for Brazil, out of the 11 matches, seven have been under Carlo Ancelotti. Out of those matches he’s only started in five, and he’s scored five goals.
“Carlo Ancelotti has been treating him like he treated Vinicius Junior at Real Madrid when he first started. When Ancelotti went to Madrid Vini wasn’t necessarily seen as a big player under Zinedine Zidane. There was talk about him loaned or sold and he kind of took him under his wing and protected him a little bit, but he also allowed him to express himself.”
We’d say that Ancelotti is doing a great job with Brazil at bringing Estevao in slowly, just like Enzo Maresca is at Chelsea. With his development in their hands, Estevao is in a good place.
You can see them discussing Estevao in the clip embedded here:
Enzo Maresca has been criticised for some of his rotation in recent weeks, and faces a big question this weekend when two first team key players will have to be left out.
Enzo Fernandez has been getting some praise in the media after keeping up his warrior record of racking up games for club and country. Sources at Chelsea are saying some very interesting things about him.
