Real Madrid were victorious on their trip to the Reale Arena this past Saturday, securing a 2-1 win over Real Sociedad.

The match has already been dragged into controversy, thanks to the referee’s questionable decision to send Dean Huijsen off and the lack of VAR intervention.

Now, it has emerged that Real Madrid defender was subjected to chants of “Asencio, d*e, Asencio, d*e” from a section of the stands at Anoeta during the 1-2 victory over Real Sociedad.

Movistar+ cameras recorded the vile chants from a section of the Anoeta crowd directed at the Real Madrid defender.

However, referee Jesus Gil Manzano did not stop the match after the incident and failed to include it in his match report as well.

Last season, referee Jose Maria Sanchez Martinez activated the hate protocol after similar chants of “Asencio, d*e” at the Reale Arena.

The match was temporarily stopped so that a message could be displayed on the stadium screen and read over the public address system. That game ended 0-1 with a goal from Endrick. Asencio was substituted at half-time.

This time around, the Spanish youngster was not part of the starting lineup and only came on in the second half as Xabi Alonso looked to shore up the defence to protect the team’s lead.

The insults towards Asencio began after the Real Madrid youth player was implicated in a case concerning the alleged recording and distribution of explicit videos involving two young women, one of whom was a minor at the time.

In May 2025, a judge clarified that Asencio was excluded from the charge of recording sexual videos of two girls, an accusation initially made against him.

Days before Real Madrid’s 1-2 win over Real Sociedad in San Sebastian, one of the two victims forgave Asencio and withdrew her accusation of disclosure of secrets.

However, the player still faces another charge, that of disclosure of secrets, related to the second victim, who was a minor (16 years old) at the time.
