Real Madrid youngster Raúl Asencio drew comparisons with one of the greatest players in the club’s storied history, on Saturday evening.

This came owing to his performance in the Madrid Derby.

Real are of course fresh off a hard-fought stalemate with city rivals Atlético.

After Los Blancos played host to Diego Simeone’s troops in a top-of-the-table clash, Julián Alvarez’s opener was cancelled out by Kylian Mbappé, to see the spoils shared.

The aforementioned Raúl Asencio for his part featured from the off in the clash, afforded a place at the heart of Carlo Ancelotti’s backline amid the ongoing injury crisis in the hosts’ squad.

And to say that the 21-year-old went on to take advantage of the opportunity would be something of an understatement.

Asencio absolutely shone throughout the 90 minutes in the derby, nothing short of a rock at the back for Real Madrid.

Owing to all of his athleticism, bravery, reading of the game and even leadership, the Spaniard, in turn, has drawn comparisons with none other than Sergio Ramos.
