Real Madrid star sends apology to club’s fans for performance vs Atlético | OneFootball

A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid has sent an apology the way of the club’s supporters, in response to this past weekend’s Madrid Derby.

Xabi Alonso’s troops are of course fresh off an evening to forget on Saturday.

After making the short trip across Spain’s capital for a league showdown with city rivals Atlético, Real Madrid looked on their way to keeping alive the club’s flawless campaign, after taking a 2-1 first-half lead.

An ensuing collapse, however, saw Los Blancos ultimately put to the sword in nothing short of embarrassing fashion, by five goals to two.

The result sent shockwaves across Spanish football, on a dark day for all associated with Real Madrid.

And as alluded to above, with the dust having now settled on the result, feeling it necessary to say sorry for as much was Blancos summer signing Dean Huijsen.

After enduring a hugely disappointing individual showing at the Metropolitano, defender Huijsen took to Instagram, to write:

“Apologies to the fans for this weekend. We’ll continue, we still have a long way to go.”
