Real Madrid still monitoring UEFA Conference League final MVP – report | OneFootball

It is well-established at this point that Real Madrid intend to sign at least one new midfielder in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Rodri of Manchester City continues to be high on the Merengues’ wishlist for the position, but they are also lining up alternatives in case the Spaniard does not arrive.

Adam Wharton still on Real Madrid radar

One such player whom Real Madrid are monitoring happens to be Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton, reports Mundo Deportivo.

Indeed, Los Blancos are indeed keeping an eye on the 22-year-old England international should they fail to secure the signing of Rodri from Manchester City.

Since joining Crystal Palace from Blackburn Rovers in 2024, Wharton has developed into one of the most promising young midfielders in the Premier League.

The midfielder played 56 matches this season, scoring one and assisting eight goals, helping Palace win the FA Community Shield and the UEFA Conference League.

Wharton, in fact, played a decisive role in the Conference League final last night when Crystal Palace defeated Rayo Vallecano 1-0 to lift their first-ever European trophy.

The Crystal Palace midfielder delivered the pass that Jean-Philippe Mateta converted into the match-winning goal.

Among the most notable aspects of his performance were his passing accuracy and vision in possession. The 22-year-old Englishman was ultimately selected by UEFA as the MVP of the final.

Surprisingly left out of the 2026 FIFA World Cup squad by England manager Thomas Tuchel, Wharton is likely to attract several other suitors this summer, apart from Real Madrid.
