According to a recent report from ESPN (h/t AS), Real Madrid star player Vinicius Jr. has turned down a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia for the current season.

However, it appears that the Brazilian winger has not completely closed the door on the idea and may consider the move in 2025.

It is said that the offer, the Brazilian received from the Middle East, is reportedly the most substantial contract ever presented to a footballer, demonstrating just how determined they are to bring Vinicius to their league.

Despite the interest, though, both Vinicius and Real Madrid have made it clear that he will remain at the Santiago Bernabeu for this season.

It is understood that Real Madrid have no intentions of letting him leave this summer unless his staggering €1 billion release clause is met. This clause effectively closed the door on any potential exit.

Vinicius does not want to leave… this summer

Interestingly, Vinicius’ decision to stay also aligns with his ambition to potentially win the Ballon d’Or this season, which is seen as a significant factor in his choice to remain at Real Madrid for now.

However, sources suggest that the player and his representatives have not completely ruled out the possibility of moving to Saudi Arabia in 2025, especially since his contract with Real Madrid will have only two years remaining by then.

This timeline gives Saudi officials hope that the Spanish club might be more willing to negotiate a transfer at that point.

Incentives for Vinicius in Saudi

It must be noted that the offer on the table from Saudi Arabia is quite extraordinary, reportedly around €350 million for the duration that Vinicius would play in their league.

Additionally, the deal includes making Vinicius an ambassador for Saudi football as they prepare to host the 2034 World Cup.

If he were to accept this offer, Vinicius would hold the largest contract in football history, surpassing even those of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Neymar.

As it stands, Vinicius has a contract with Real Madrid until 2027. His representatives have informed the club that, for now, they do not wish to engage in discussions about a new contract extension.

They prefer to wait and see how things unfold this season. This approach allows Vinicius to keep his options open as he contemplates his future.

Real Madrid, on the other hand, understands that they may need to offer a substantial financial package to retain one of their most valuable players, especially since he has not completely dismissed the idea of moving to Saudi Arabia.
