As Real Madrid gear up for their toughest challenge of the season yet – Atletico Madrid, the club will be pinning hopes on Kylian Mbappe.
The Frenchman has been one of Europe’s top performers this season, racking up 11 goals and two assists for his club and country since the start of the season and is looking like the real at the moment.
Coach Xabi Alonso has done a wonderful job of revolving his new-look Real Madrid team around the Frenchman and the Spaniard has been rewarded as well.
While Mbappe is one of the world’s best attackers, the Riyadh Air Metropolitano does appear to be an Achilles heel of sorts for the Frenchman.
That is because Mbappe has never scored at Atletico Madrid’s stadium in all the games he has played there.

The forward did score in a penalty shootout at the Metropolitano in the UEFA Champions League earlier this year, but that doesn’t count as an official goal.
Therefore, the former PSG superstar will be keen on breaking his duck at the Metropoliano later today.
Scoring against Atletico Madrid, in fact, could go a long way in boosting his confidence as he looks to break all kinds of records at Real Madrid this season.
In his debut season, the Frenchman already bagged the Pichichi Troophy and the Golden Boot. This time around, he is the team’s undisputed star, ahead of Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr. He is also a lot more involved in the overall play.
Therefore, if the attacker can continue his superb performances and perhaps even help Real Madrid restore its glory by winning titles, he could emerge as a strong candidate for the Ballon d’Or next season.
