Real Madrid talisman Mbappe’s two objectives ahead of France vs England – report | OneFootball

Both Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham fell short at the semifinal stage of the FIFA World Cup earlier this week, but they both still have a game to play in the event.

As inconsequential as it may appear, both players are expected to feature for their respective sides in tonight’s third-place match and will leave their all on the field.

After all, they both have been the best players on their respective sides and two of the most influential players in the tournament as a whole.

Of them, it will be Mbappe who will be more driven to give his best on the night for both personal and collective reasons. 

Defensa Central brings to light the two objectives the player has for the game against England.

Objective 1: Golden Boot

While the French talisman may not be in the final of the coveted competition, he has been one of the best and most effective strikers throughout the event.

Mbappe currently has eight goals in the ongoing FIFA World Cup and is tied with only Lionel Messi who will play in the final tomorrow.

The clash against England, thus, is Mbappe’s best chance at pulling clear of the Argentine superstar and sealing the Golden Boot in his favour. After winning the award in 2022 with eight goals to Messi’s seven, he will look to get the better of the Argentine once more.

Objective 2: The perfect farewell for Deschamps

As reported by the Spanish outlet, the second objective Mbappe has in mind has nothing to do with personal records and is more charitable.

At the end of the FIFA World Cup, French national team manager Didier Deschamps will leave his position and be replaced by Zinedine Zidane.

Having led the French side to the World Cup in 2018 and the final in 2022, the manager has enjoyed a stunning run in his position and the clash against England will be his final game on the sidelines.

Given the special bond Deschamps shares with his players, Mbappe sees it as fitting for him to leave on a high. They may have lost the World Cup, but winning the final game the coach oversees will be special for the side.  

Mbappe, thus, has taken special responsibility for achieving the same and is determined to hand his coach a memorable farewell. It is a means of showing his gratitude for everything Deschamps has done for the team.
