Liverpool center back Ibrahima Konaté hasn’t agreed to a contract extension this summer, fueling transfer speculation. Both PSG and Real Madrid have been linked to the defender.
According to Diario AS, Real Madrid is interested but only if Liverpool lowers their price. The Spanish club is reportedly willing to offer between €20 million and €25 million, while Liverpool wants around €50 million.
With Konaté said to be open to a move, Madrid might prefer to wait until 2026, when he could leave on a free transfer, rather than pay Liverpool’s asking price now.
At the same time, Foot Mercato reported that Konaté has been offered to several top European clubs—including PSG, Real Madrid, and Barcelona—raising the chances of a transfer once his contract expires.

With a couple of weeks left in the summer transfer window, all signs point to Liverpool keeping Konaté and trying to work out an extension. Nonetheless, this likely decision comes with the risk of letting him walk as a free agent. Meanwhile, Diario AS notes that Real Madrid are taking their time with this transfer target.
“Konaté’s signing is progressing slowly,” Diario AS wrote. “The French center-back’s contract runs through next season, so talks could pick up in the final days of the transfer window. If a deal doesn’t happen now, the club might focus on bringing him in on a free transfer once his contract ends.”
Earlier this month, journalist Abdellah Boulma reported that Liverpool are still in talks with Konaté over a contract extension. While no deal is finalized yet, the French defender is happy at the club and wants to stay.
