Real Madrid face Espanyol at the Santiago Bernabéu in a fascinating La Liga clash, in which the two teams will be eager to build on their impressive form.
Xabi Alonso’s side enter the fixture atop the standings, having won all four of their league games this season.
Alonso’s men are facing several defensive headaches ahead of the match. Dean Huijsen will be unavailable after receiving a red card during the club’s victory over Real Sociedad in their last outing.
Trent Alexander-Arnold’s recent hamstring injury – sustained midweek against Marseille – means he’ll be out for at least six weeks, while Antonio Rüdiger is also sidelined with a muscle issue and not expected back until later this month. Ferland Mendy has his own muscle complaint.
On the brighter side for supporters, Jude Bellingham could make an earlier-than-expected return from injury, with speculation mounting that he may feature before September’s end.
As for the attack, Kylian Mbappé has been in outstanding form, finding the net in each of his last four games for club and country. He’ll spearhead Madrid’s offence in their effort to preserve a flawless start to the campaign.
Real Madrid Predicted XI: Courtois; Dani Carvajal, Militao, Alaba, Carreras; Fede Valverde, Tchouameni; Brahim, Guler, Vinicius Junior; Mbappe
Saturday September 20th at 3:15pm BST.
