The Dutch centre-back is one of the players at Liverpool who is at the end of his contract and might leave for free in the summer.

Los Blancos are looking for defenders in the transfer market. Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba are at the wrong end of their 30s and have also struggled with injury issues. Although the club might look for younger profiles, getting a player with the experience and quality of Virgil van Dijk for a few years and that too for free will be a tempting opportunity.
