Real Madrid will not exercise recall clause for Endrick following managerial change | OneFootball

Real Madrid have gone through a major shake-up over the past 24 hours or so, as they got rid of Xabi Alonso as manager, replacing him with another former player in Alvaro Arbeloa.

The Merengues made the decision to move on from Alonso a day after losing the Spanish Super Cup final to Barcelona 3-2 in Saudi Arabia.

Soon after the Spanish tactician’s dismissal, the situation of Endrick, who left the club to join Olympique Lyon on loan in the current window, has become a topic of debate.

Real Madrid have a recall clause, but will not activate

According to AS, Real Madrid do not plan on recalling Endrick from his loan stint despite having a clause in the agreement with Lyon to do so.

In all loan agreements, the Spanish capital club usually include a clause allowing for a possible recall, which can only be activated in the event of a serious injury to a first-team player or the sale of a player, and not due to a technical decision.

The same has been inserted in the deal with Lyon for Endrick, and the deadline to activate it is 20 January.

However, the departure of Alonso and the arrival of Arbeloa at the Santiago Bernabeu do not change anything as far as the Brazilian forward’s situation is concerned.

The objective is for him to play regularly and continue his development, to feel important again and to earn a place in Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil squad for the World Cup.

Having scored on his debut for Lyon, Endrick has made a strong start to life at Lyon, and as things stand, he will not return to Madrid prematurely and play out the season in France.
