According to an update from Real Madrid Confidencial, the Los Blancos are currently working not only on the high-profile contract renewal of Vinicius Jr., but also on securing the futures of three key defensive players, namely, Thibaut Courtois, Antonio Rudiger, and Dani Carvajal.
While the spotlight has been firmly on Vinicius, Real Madrid are equally focused on ensuring long-term stability in the spine of their team.
Of the three players, Courtois appears closest to signing a new deal. The Belgian goalkeeper has already expressed his commitment to the club, and Real Madrid see no reason not to reward his continued excellence.
After a long injury layoff, he returned with top-level performances, proving he remains a vital asset.
Rudiger has also firmly earned his extension. The German centre-back stepped up last season when both David Alaba and Eder Militao were sidelined through injury.
His consistency, leadership, and work ethic haven’t gone unnoticed. The club now view him as one of the cornerstones of the current defensive setup.

Carvajal, too, remains an essential figure for the right-back position. A youth product who has spent over a decade at the club, his experience and reliability are seen as crucial.
These three players offer not only quality but also experience, something Real Madrid value highly as they look to guide new arrivals and younger talents through the transition into the senior squad.
While the defensive renewals are progressing well, the same cannot be said for Vinicius Jr.
The 25-year-old winger’s contract situation has hit a roadblock due to his demand for a salary higher than that of new signing Kylian Mbappe.
Real Madrid are not prepared to break their wage structure, and while an exit has not been completely ruled out, the club’s stance remains firm that they will not be rushed or pressured into an unfavourable deal.
With the transfer window still open, and important players locked in for the future, Los Blancos are quietly ensuring their foundation remains rock solid regardless of what happens with Vinicius.
