Real Madrid youngster wants to follow the footsteps of club legend, very happy with Alonso | OneFootball

Xabi Alonso’s arrival has sparked a stark change from the Real Madrid of last season and the club is clearly heading towards a fresh start as the new season nears.

Hierarchies have been shuffled, systems changed and even the training regimen has not been spared by the new man in charge as he looks to rejuvenate the team and undo the poor results of last season.

One of the players who is set for a lot more playing time this season compared to the last, needless to say, is Arda Guler as the youngster ticks all the boxes Alonso demands and has made the manager a fan of his talent.

Following his idol

As relayed in a recent report by The Athletic, Guler hopes to follow a career trajectory similar to Real Madrid legend Luka Modric at the club.

Needless to say, it goes to show that he is in it for the long haul and wants to play at the highest level for Real Madrid until the fag end of his career.

People close to the youngster relay that he is pleased with the arrival of Alonso as the new manager. His playing time, thus, is set to increase beyond all doubt and he could well become a bona fide starter in the new system.

Guler’s talent was visible in flashes last season throughout the limited minutes he was given and it is clear that he can be the creative outlet the team needs.

With his idol Modric no longer at the club and Jude Bellingham ruled out of the initial part of the season, he could well be the replacement on the field.

The only competition for Guler would appear to be Franco Mastantuono, the club’s new midfield signing who can play in a very similar niche.

It thus will be interesting to see what plans the new coach has in mind to accommodate both young talents in his dynamics.
