Real Madrid and Florentino Perez eye Enzo Fernandez as an ideal fit for the team this summer – partly because of his quality and undeniable talent, and partly because of his open desire for the move.
Despite being contracted to Chelsea, the Argentine star has spoken out about his desire to play for Real Madrid on several occasions and it is clear that he is pushing for an exit from the London-based club this summer.
Real Madrid, in deep need of a midfielder themselves, thus see him to be a great market opportunity and are willing to push for his signing despite the challenges that come with it.
As reported by El Debate now, Real Madrid have plans beyond Fernandez and are prepared for the possibility that they fail to land him in June.
One option they eye as a serious backup plan is Alexis Mac Allister – the World Cup winner with Argentina who plays for Liverpool. The Merengues see him as a lower-cost option compared to Fernandez who can provide good quality cover.

The 27-year-old midfielder’s contract at Anfield runs until 2028 and has been on Real Madrid’s radar for some time now.
Manchester City’s Rodri has also been widely linked as an option for Real Madrid in recent times, but his value has seemingly fallen owing to both his age and the recent serious injuries that he has suffered.
While Real Madrid do indeed need a midfielder, they also happen to suffer from an overcrowded midfield department. The reason for the ironic discrepancy is that they lack a particular profile of player – a controlling presence with a creative touch.

The attacking midfield, however, is where Real Madrid are already stacked with options including Jude Bellingham, Arda Guler and even Brahim Diaz. Nico Paz, who is set to return to Real Madrid, also plays in the same position.
Enzo Fernandez’s signing, thus, generates some amount of dilemma for the position where the Argentine star best shines. On top of that, his €120 million price tag is considered excessive by Los Blancos, leading to Mac Allister emerging as an alternative.
