Real Sociedad make first Cup toast before thousands in Gipuzkoa | OneFootball

Real Sociedad marked their return to Gipuzkoa with an impromptu first toast with the Cup, greeted by thousands along the route. Fans packed the approach to Hondarribia airport and lined Errenteria, Pasaia, Donostia and Zubieta.

According to Diario Vasco, the club surprised many by sharing the trophy the moment the squad and staff touched down. The official reception is planned for Monday in Donostia, with around 100,000 expected for a tour from Anoeta to Alderdi Eder. Supporters sang for Marrero, hailed Oyarzabal and thanked Matarazzo.

The flight had been due just after 13:00, but late delays pushed arrival to 14:10. News of the route through Bidasoa, Oarsoaldea and Donostia drew more people as the morning wore on.

At 14:26 Aritz and Oyarzabal emerged at Hondarribia carrying the Cup, alongside Matarazzo, Bretos and an exultant Jokin Aperribay. They greeted supporters, signed autographs and took photos, then boarded the bus with the trophy placed beside the driver.

The convoy rolled through Hondarribia, Errenteria and Pasaia, then into Donostia, before finishing at Zubieta. Hundreds had waited, having urged the team 48 hours earlier to return with the Cup, now offering thanks in Basque. They reached the training ground at 15:46, embraced and headed home to rest before Monday’s festivities.
