Soler’s first-half strike earned Real Sociedad a 1-0 win over Mallorca, a timely lift before the Cup. Remiro had a quiet night and posted his second league clean sheet of the season, again against Mallorca.
As reported by AS, these were the standout displays. Caleta-Car nearly scored with an 18-minute header from a corner, before, on 35 minutes, Oyarzabal threaded Guedes and Soler pounced on Raíllo’s clearance, marking it with a nod to his recent fatherhood.
Remiro intervened smartly when required, although he misjudged a late first-half cross. Aramburu contained Virgili and was booked. Sergio Gómez was tidy, delivering two good centres.
Turrientes ran the game, blocking an early second-half effort in the box, producing a deft back-heel for a corner and shooting tamely on 60. Soler made way on 62 with a semi-final looming, Zakharyan followed a minute later after neat movement but evident rust.
Guedes was less involved than of late yet dropped deep to link play and, on 72, whipped in a superb cross that Oyarzabal almost converted. He played the full match.
Oyarzabal also initiated the goal move and worked selflessly, departing seven minutes from time with the Cup in mind. Gorrotxategi grew into it after early errors, was rightly booked and went off on 83.
Zubeldia was largely untroubled. Barrenetxea looked confident without a cutting edge, Sucic pressed and curled one towards the top corner, Yangel Herrera added eight minutes, and Pablo Marín harried late on.
