Real Sociedad have signed Wesley Gassova on loan from Al-Nassr, with a €12m option to buy. The winger had been close to joining Valencia last summer.

The club said in a statement that the deal runs to the end of the 25/26 season. The Brazilian came through Corinthians, playing 84 times before Al-Nassr paid €18m for him.

Back in July, Valencia contacted Al-Nassr over Angelo Gabriel and Wesley. With Miguel Ángel Corona still in post, they sought a loan for the right-footed 20-year-old, capable on either flank and fresh from a reputation as the Brasileirao’s top dribbler.

Salary demands and Al-Nassr’s preference for a sale were hurdles, as the club pursued high-profile signings like Joao Félix and Kingsley Coman with Sadio Mané already alongside Cristiano Ronaldo. After an online meeting with Wesley and his father, Valencia won him over to La Liga minutes at Mestalla, and he asked Jorge Jesus to help an exit while turning down Bologna.

Valencia ultimately chose Arnaut Danjuma, completing a swift deal. Al-Nassr, by then open to a loan with option, and Wesley were left waiting as the club moved on. Villarreal shed a high wage, kept 50 percent of any future sale and the winger signed a three-year contract.

Earlier, Valencia had also explored a loan for Alexsander with Al-Ahli, where Lisandro Isei, now Valencia’s scouting director, was working. The Saudi club sought to recoup their outlay as the player struggled to settle in Jeddah, and weeks later Atlético Mineiro brought him back for €7m.
