Erling Haaland has once again gotten off to a lightning fast start to the new season with Manchester City.

The striker has scored in all but one match he’s played so far, that being the 2-0 home defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in August. He’s been otherwise lethal in front of goal and leads the Premier League scoring charts with nine strikes.

We’re not even two full months into the campaign and he has scored a frankly ridiculous 18 goals in 11 appearances for both club and country. He’s also on a nine-game scoring streak.

Haaland has been gobbling up records left and right ever since moving to England and has broken two this term. He’s the quickest player to 50 UEFA Champions League goals, doing so in just 49 appearances; that’s 13 fewer than previous fastest Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The 25-year-old also became the highest-scoring Norwegian in Premier League history, surpassing former Manchester United forward Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with his 94 goals in 104 appearances.

There is more to come, that much we can be sure of. Just six goals off a century, Haaland will become the fastest Premier League player to reach the milestone, overtaking Alan Shearer who needed 125 appearances. After signing a nine-year contract with City, he will surely break the legendary striker’s Premier League record of 260 goals.

His most recent goal at Brentford means he has scored in 22 of the 23 Premier League stadiums (96 per cent) he has played in. Anfield is the only ground he is yet to find the net, although he did score there as a Salzburg player in the Champions League during his breakout season. His next opportunity comes in February when City face Liverpool away.

Haaland is also on track to beat his personal best for most goals in a calendar year. He’s currently on 37 with 22 games remaining in 2025, so he needs just 13 to match the 50 he scored in 2023.

Should he maintain his current scoring rate while keeping fit, he could break his own record of most goals in a single Premier League campaign, which he set in 2022/23 with 36.

There’s also the possibility of him breaking Cristiano Ronaldo’s record of 17 goals in a Champions League campaign, particularly with the increased amount of fixtures with the introduction of the league phase. Haaland has already scored three goals in the opening two games this season.

Closer to home, Haaland is now ninth in the all-time list of goal scorers for City (136) and second for most goals at the Etihad Stadium (52). It will be a while before he takes either record from Sergio Aguero, though; the Argentina legend scored 260 goals in ten years for the club overall, with 106 of them coming at the ground.
